Henry Barth (1)
Heinrich Barth was one of the early and probably the greatest Saharan explorers of all time. His published his discoveries in the five volume Travels and Discoveries in North and Central Africa; being a Journal of an Expedition undertaken under the auspices of H.B.M.'s Government in the years 1849-1855. The following are a selection of the plates that illustrate his travels.

Mizda 8 April 1850

Kanó from Mt. Dalá 10 Feb 1850

Kanémbú Chief

Ederi 26 April 1850
